What is CBL?
Challenge-based learning (CBL) is a new way to conceive teaching. It is based on real-world challenges.
How does it work? It encourages students to identify big ideas and ask thoughtful questions. Its core activity is to solve challenges. In this way, CBL helps learners gain deep subject area knowledge and develop the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Bring New European Bauhaus in schools
What is New European Bauhaus? It is a new European initiative that revolutionizes the concept of green transition. Its aim is to transform built environments and buildings that already exist to tackle climate change. It’s a transdisciplinary movement that serves as a bridge between science and design.
How does it work? It studies solutions that are beautiful, inclusive and sustainable. Its core activities are:
- engaging people at a grassroots level, focusing on neighbourhoods;
- providing tools and guidance ;
- offering tailor-made solutions for different communities;
- incorporating the views of various stakeholders into the process of design and implementation ;
- prioritising people and social inclusion but also the economy to boost competitiveness and EU strategic autonomy.
Sustainability
NEB initiative promotes solutions that are sustainable, encouraging practices that reduce carbon emissions, minimize waste, and support the responsible use of resources.
Inclusion
The initiative supports inclusive solutions that enable people of all backgrounds and abilities to take part in and benefit from the green transition.
Beauty
NEB encourages solutions that are aesthetically enriching, while honouring the diversity of places, traditions, and cultures across Europe and beyond.
Join the RE:Think Your Profession Challenge
A European Challenge-Based Learning journey for VET students (13–18)
The RE:Think Your Profession Challenge invites students from vocational schools across Europe to reimagine their future professions while solving real-world problems. Guided by their teachers — the “Team-chers” — and supported by expert mentors, student teams collaborate, create, and pitch their ideas with impact. It’s hands-on, community-connected, and all about learning by doing.
Step 1: Explore
Sign up and choose your focus.
Teachers register their class and help student teams select a real-world problem that matters to them and can make their future job more beautiful, sustainable and inclusive.
Step 2: Create
Learn by doing, together.
Using the Challenge-Based Learning method, students work in teams to research, prototype, and co-design practical solutions — supported by guides, mentors, and local stakeholders.
Step 3: Share
Pitch your solution to the world.
Each team submits their project and presents it to a European audience. Finalists will join a cross-border event to showcase their ideas and connect with peers.
Do You want to join Us?
Outstanding projects will be recognized and shared across Europe, and participants will gain mentorship experience and visibility. The winners will join a trip to Bruxelles to attend at New European Bauhaus Festival!
